Early 30’s: Piano lessons early on, gifted by a caring Mom
who somehow sensed the music in her son’s DNA.
1939-1943: singing and appearing in classic films and radio with the Robert Mitchell Boychoir during Hollywoods’ Golden Age. ’44-’46: Playing piano with a (out of harms way) Navy Jazz Combo. ’47: On the road and recordings with “The Idol of the Airlanes,” Jan Garber and his Orchestra. ’48-’57: Singing with The Modernaires/arranging lessons from Henry Mancini/ daily CBS TV romps with Bob Crosby and the Bobcats ’57-’58: Featured singer on “Your Hit Parade” (in this instance, being there at the wrong time) ’62-’68: The Alan Copeland Singers are born on CBS TVs’ The Red Skelton Hour/ The AC Singers record with Count Basie/ Garner a Grammy/ Appear at the Monterey Jazz Festival. ’70’s-’80’s: A.C. lands with soul-mate Mahmn Pearl for 3 LP’s + CD for Discovery Records + personal appearances as “Feather”/ A.C. arranging for Pearl Bailey/ Sarah Vaughn/ Ella Fitzgerald. ‘90’s till present: “Now You Hazz Jazz” treats Tuolumne County to glossy renditions of jazz standards! |
